Security Migration Overview

Cloudsfer allows you to migrate shared permissions to help maintain your existing access controls during the migration process. This document provides a comprehensive guide on how to use the Security Migration feature.

Important Note

The Security Migration feature is available exclusively with our Business Plans.
To learn more, please visit our Pricing Page.

To purchase a Business Plan:

  1. Register and log in to your Cloudsfer account.
  2. Navigate to Pricing >> Business Plans or go directly to https://app.cloudsfer.com/User/Plans.

Using Security Migration in the Wizard

During the New Migration Plan Wizard, after selecting your source and target systems, the 'Options' setting menu will appear.
Click on the Security Migration tab to access permission mapping options.

Permission Mapping

You can map permissions by selecting the appropriate target permission from the dropdown menu that best matches the source permission.

  • Selecting "Do not maintain permissions" will skip migrating that permission level.
  • Please note: Permission levels may vary between systems. For example, the "View" permission in the source system may differ from the "View" permission in the target system.

Refer to the table in Permission Levels in Google Drive, Box, and SharePoint Online for a detailed comparison.

Target: Google Drive for Business

User Mapping Options

Below the permission assignments, you’ll find the User Mapping section. There are three available options:

A. None

Permissions are migrated as-is. Use this when source and target users have identical email addresses.
Example: A@ABC.com in both source and target.

B. Domain Mapping

Replace domains between systems.
Note: The naming convention must be identical.
Example:

  • Source: first_last@tzunami.com
  • Target: first_last@cloudsfer.com

C. Spreadsheet Mapping

Upload a spreadsheet specifying exact user mappings.
Use this when both usernames and domains differ.
Example:

  • Source: AAA@tzunami.com
  • Target: first_lastBBB@cloudsfer.com

To upload:

  • Click "Upload user mapping spreadsheet"
  • To download a sample: Click "Download example Excel file"

Finalizing the Setup

Once you’ve completed permission assignments and user mapping, click Save & Continue to proceed to the next step.
