Change Permission in the BIM and Pre-Validation during Backup migration plan creation
This guide explains how to resolve the projects that need attention during project validation due to permission issue in the BIM360/ACC source. These issues typically occur when the service account or user does not have sufficient access to the project or its modules.
Required Permissions:
To connect to BIM360/ACC source successfully, the user must have either Account Administrator or Project Administrator access. If a user has only Project Member access, the projects may appear in the tree view, but backup operations cannot be performed.
Permission Validation During Backup
During single or multiple project selection, or automatically backup of all projects, the system validates the access level of the logged-in BIM user when a project is selected. If the user lacks the required permissions, a validation pop-up message is displayed as shown in the screenshot:

This validation applies to both:
-Single or multiple projects (As selected)
- Automatic backup (when selecting “Automatically back up all my projects”)
During Auto Backup, the same validation checks are executed. Enabling the “Automatically back up all my projects” option applies these validations to all projects automatically by uploading a CSV file that contains information about the available projects.
CSV Validation Process:

- Click on “Download Project and Hubs File”.
- A CSV file named “Project And Hubs - Report.csv” will be downloaded to:
C:\Users\<username>\Downloads - Click on “Upload Project and Hubs File”.
- A pop-up window will appear to upload the CSV file.

3. Upload the CSV file and click “Upload CSV”.
- The system performs validation and displays the results.

4. Review the validation report.
- The report clearly indicates which projects do not have the required permission level and require attention
5.Click “Next” to view the validation summary

Updating User Permissions in BIM360 / ACC:
1. Sign in to BIM360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
2. Select the required project.
3. Navigate to Project Admin.
4. Open the Members section.
5. Select the user whose permissions need to be updated.
6. In the Access Level column, click the Edit (✏️) icon.
7. Change the access level to Project Administrator.
8. Save the changes.

Re-validation and Approval:
1. Return to the migration screen.
2. Click the “Validate” button
3. Review the updated validation summary.

4. Click “Finish” to close the window.
5. Click “Approve CSV” to start the backup migration.
